Si estas en la ciudad o planeas estar por aquí en octubre y estas en busca de eventos culturales, puedes asistir al festival de arte y cultura “Entijuanarte” que se hace cada año desde el 2005, en la explanada del “CECUT”. En este evento participan artistas locales e invitados de destinas partes de México e internacionales, para exponer sus trabajos creativos, durante tres días, y lo mejor es que la entrada es gratis!! :D .

Lo primero que puedes ver al llegar, es un cumulo de carpas en las que cada artista tiene un lugar designado, y se puede ver escultores, fotógrafos, pintores, en fin, de todo. Por lo regular cierran la calle que está a un lado del CECUT, allí encuentras el área de comida y bebidas, por si te da hambre ya no tienes que alejarte para buscar alimentos. Por la noche para cerrar el evento se presentan músicos invitados.

Es un gran evento que se realiza para promover a los artistas locales, asi que si estas cerca hechale un vistazo a las propuestas de los artistas locales :).

If you're in the city or plan to be here in October and you’re searching for some cultural events, you can go to the festival of art and culture "Entijuanarte" it happens each year since 2005, on the esplanade of "CECUT". You can see local artist and guests from different parts of Mexico and internationals also, they  show their creative work during three days, and the best part is that the entrance is for free! :D

The first thing you see when you arrive is a mass of tents in which every artist has a designated place, and you can see sculptors, photographers, painters… well, everything. Usually the street is closed on the side of CECUT, there you find the area of ​​food and drinks in case you get hungry, so you don’t have to go far to find food. In the night in the stage area, musicians are presented.  

It is a great event held to promote local artists, so if you're around take a look to the work of local artists :)

Casino Agua CAliente

De lo que alguna vez fue un complejo turístico de ensueño, hoy solo quedan unos pocos fragmentos en pie que reviven los recuerdos de las pasadas generaciones e invitan a los más jóvenes a imaginar cómo era el mítico Casino Agua Caliente.

Construido sobre aguas termales y decorado con una mezcla de arte neo mudéjar, art déco, art nouveau y con fachada colonial, se inauguro en el año de 1928 con la intención de ser un centro de diversión en el cual los visitantes pudieran relajarse. En un inicio el complejo contaba con solo 50 habitaciones, casino, restaurante y un galgódromo. Para 1929 ya contaba con un hipódromo; campo de golf y un aeródromo, también aumento el número de habitaciones, para atender la demanda de visitantes.

Tuvo su periodo de auge en un momento en el que el país vecino (USA) hubo prohibiciones de alcohol y juegos de azar, lo que genero que muchos cruzaran la frontera para disfrutar de las atracciones que ofrecía le casino. Personalidades importantes del cine y políticos de varias partes del mundo visitaron el casino.

Sin embargo y por azares del destino el periodo auge de este lugar no duro mucho, ya que en el año de 1934 presidente Lázaro Cárdenas declaro la prohibición de juegos de azar. En 1937 cierra definitivamente, las tierras en las que se ubicaba fueron expropiadas y las instalaciones fueron otorgadas a la Secretaria de Educación Publica (SEP) para establecer ahí centros escolares.

Actualmente solo quedan restos de lo que una vez fue el mítico casino Agua Caliente, permanece parte de la fuente del Dios pan que daba la bienvenida a la entrada del balneario, también permanece el minarete que era la chimenea del balneario y la maravillosa alberca que hace pocos años fue renovada y que está en funcionamiento.

Casino Agua Caliente [Eng]

The place that one day used to be a resort dream, today there are only a few pieces conjuring up memories of past generations and invite to young people to imagine what the legendary Casino Agua Caliente was.

Built over hot springs and decorated with a mixture of neo Moorish art, art deco, art nouveau and colonial façade, was inaugurated in the year of 1928 with the intentions of being an entertainment center where the visitors could relax. In the beginning this resort counted just with 50 rooms, casino, restaurant and a greyhound track. In 1929 had a hippodrome, golf and aerodrome, also increased the number of rooms for attend the demand of visitors.

This place had the best years, when his neighbor country (US) prohibited the consume of alcohol and gambling, which generated many people crossed the border for enjoy of the offered attractions of the casino. Important film personalities and politicians from around the world visited the casino.

However and for twist of fate, in the year of 1934 the president Lazaro Cardenas prohibited gambling in the country. The Casino permanent close was in the year of 1937, the land was expropriated and the building was donated to the secretary of public education for establishes schools.

Today there are only remnants of what was once the legendary Casino Agua Caliente, there part of the fountain of Pann, which was at the entrance of the resort, also the minaret and the wonderful pool, which a few years was renovated and is in operations today.

Burro-Cebra: Icono de la ciudad

Burro-Cebra Icono de la ciudad.

Los burro cebra son burros blancos pintados a rallas negras,

los turistas se tomas pintorescas fotografías como suvenir al pasar por la ciudad. Los burros a rayas surgen debido a que los burros blancos o de colores claros no se veían en las fotografías que antes eran a blanco y negro, y a un fotógrafo se le ocurrió pintarle a su burro rayas, y fue tal el éxito que siguen vigentes.

Los burro-cebra estuvieron a punto de extinguirse, porque

activistas en pro de los derechos de los animales exigían un mejor trato para los burritos. Se llego a un acuerdo entre activistas y autoridades a cargo para darles a los burros un mejor trato. Este año se cumplen 100 años del “Icono de

la Ciudad”, así que si te encuentras en Tj o si planeas visitarla, no olvides pasar por la avenida revolución en donde se encuentran ubicados, hasta las 5 o 6 de la tarde.

Burro-Zebra a City Icon. 

Zonkeys are white donkeys painted with black stripes; tourists take photos with them as souvenirs while passing through the city. The striped donkey arises because in the black and white pictures light-colored donkeys can't be seen clearly, so a photographer got the idea to make them striped and was so successful that remains like that.

However, Zonkeys were about to disappear, because of animal

rights activists that demand a better conditions for the donkeys. The authorities in charge and the activists reach an agreement for better treatment. In this year marks a century of “Zonkeys” Icon of the city, so if you're in Tj or if you plan to visit, do not forget to go through the “Revolution” Avenue in which they are located till 5 or 6pm.
