Si te gusta la arquitectura religiosa en general y quieres observar los diseños de la geometría sacra, su iconografía, símbolos y los motivos religiosos que las componen; debes darte una vuelta por algún templo que se encuentre cerca del lugar que visites. En la zona centro de la ciudad, caminando por la calle tercera hasta llegar al parque teniente guerrero, justo enfrente se encuentra ubicada la Iglesia de San Francisco de Asís. Este templo fue consagrado en 1951 y termino de construirse en 1967. Su fachada es de cantera rosa y su arquitectura estilo gótico. Aunque su decoración es sencilla los pequeños detalles al interior llaman la atención, puedes observar sus ventanas y sus cúpulas compuestas por hermosos vitrales y su piso es de duela.

If you like the religious architecture in general and want to see the designs of sacred geometry, iconography, symbols and religious motifs that compose; you must go to the temple that is near the place that you visit.  In the down town area, walking down the Third Street , in front of the park Teniente Guerrero is located the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. This temple was consecrated in 1951 and completed in 1967. Its façade is of pink stone and gothic architecture. Although have a simple décor inside, the little details catch the eye, you can see their windows made of stained glass and beautiful domes and the floor is of stave.

Playas de Tj/ Tj beach

Ubicada en la parte oeste de la ciudad, se encuentra Playas de Tijuana. Un lugar para caminar, relajarse y disfrutar del atardecer Donde se pude observar la valla fronteriza dentro del mar.

A pesar de que es una playa sencilla es un buen lugar para distraerte del bullicio de la ciudad, es muy visitada por locales en fines de semana y temporada de vacaciones. En esta parte de la ciudad, puedes ver el faro y a escasos metros la plaza de toros. En la valla fronteriza está ubicado el parque de la amistad un lugar donde personas de ambas partes de la frontera, se reúnen para convivir a determinada hora del día. También puedes observar el obelisco No. 258 que marca la frontera entre México y U.S.A

En los arcos puedes disfrutar de festivales de música los fines de semana o en vacaciones. A lo largo del el malecón se encuentran algunos lugares donde puedes disfrutar desde un café o cerveza hasta tacos de pescado y/o mariscos. En la playa hay vendedores que ofrecen golosinas, fruta con chile, helados y frituras, etc. También puedes apreciar el arte local en la valla fronteriza y a lo largo del malecón. Es un lugar seguro porque los salvavidas hacen constantes rondas y también puedes ver patrullas de policías alrededor.

Esta permitido llevar perros y puedes encontrar a lo largo del malecón dispensadores de bolsa para recoger los desechos de tu amigo. Si necesitas hacer una visita al tocador, cerca del faro están ubicados los servicios sanitarios la tarifa es de 5 pesos y te dan papel higiénico al entrar.

Playas of Tijuana are located in the western part of the city. A good place for walk, gets relax, and enjoys the sunset. Where you can see the border fence into the sea.

Although is a simple beach is a good place for forget the noise of the city, is quite crowded for local people in weekends and on vacations/holidays seasons. In this part of the city you can see the lighthouse and a few meters the bullfighting. In the border fence are located the Friendship park, a place where people from both sides of the border meets in a certain time of the day. Also you can see the obelisk No. 258 which marks the limit between Mexico and USA

In the arches you can enjoy music festivals on weekends or in vacations. Walking along the boardwalk you can find some places where you can enjoy a coffee or beer, fish tacos or seafood. On the beach there are vendors selling candies, fruit with chili, ice cream, chips, and other stuff. You can see some local art in the border fence and along the boardwalk. It is a safe place because lifeguards are making constant rounds and you can also see police patrols around.

Pets are allowed on the beach and you can find along the boardwalk bag dispensers for pick up dog poop. If you need go to the toilet, near the lighthouse are located the restrooms the fee is 5 pesos and you get toilet paper

Av. Revolucion

La avenida revolución es probablemente la  más conocida de la cuidad, desde sus inicios en esta, se han desarrollado actividades de tipo comercial. Fue creada en 1889 y hasta los años 30’s recibió el nombre que lleva en la actualidad. Durante los años de ley seca en Estados Unidos, resultaba un gran atractivo para los turistas estadounidenses que visitaban Tijuana, donde podían beber sin restricciones. Hace algunos años la avenida estaba llena de turistas extranjeros y luego de varias crisis, el flujo turístico bajo, provocando el cierre de muchos establecimientos comerciales. 

En la actualidad se busca promover el turismo local, se han creado diversos programas de recuperación de espacios para mejorar su imagen, transformándola en una área en la que a lo largo de 8 cuadras puedes encontrar: durante el día al burrocebra (zonkeys), tiendas de curiosidades y suvenires, restaurantes, galerías de arte local y espacios culturales y por las noches los bares, lugares para bailar; además de replicas de piezas prehispánicas, el Pasaje Rodríguez y Pasaje Gómez, el antiguo palacio Jai Alai donde actualmente se usa para conciertos y arte urbano por toda la calle. En ocasiones es cerrada al tránsito  vehicular para convertirse en la sede de eventos al aire libre.

The avenue revolution is probably the most famous of the city, since its inception has developed commercial activities. This street was created in 1889 and until the 30's received the current name . During the years of Prohibition in the U.S., was a major attraction for American tourists visiting Tijuana, the place where they could drink without restrictions. In the past the avenue was full of foreign tourists, after a few crisis, the tourist flow low, causing the closure of many stores. 

Currently seeks to promote local tourism, have created various recovery programs spaces to improve his image, transforming it into an area where over 8 blocks you can find: during the day to burrocebra (Zonkeys), shops curio and souvenir, restaurants, local art galleries and cultural spaces and at night the bars, dancing clubs. Also prehispanic replics, Passage Gómez and Passage Rodríguez, Jai alai palace where concerts are held, and Urban art all over the street. Sometimes the avenue is closed to traffic to become the host outdoor events.

Cerro Colorado/ Colorado Hill

Si quieres recorrer otras partes de la ciudad que son interesantes y no tan turísticas, te recomendamos que busques en la red, ya que puedes encontrar diferentes grupos de gente que se reúne para realizar caminatas por distintas áreas de la ciudad que no son tan visitadas. Estos recorridos son realizados por personas locales, en fines de semana y son gratis.

Nos unimos a una caminata que organizo un grupo, y el recorrido fue subir a pie el Cerro Colorado. Este tiene una altura desde la base hasta la cima de 550 metros. El trayecto dura aproximadamente 2 horas a paso normal (pero si no tienes buena condición, puedes tardar un poco más). La caminata inicio por la tarde, para contemplar la puesta de sol desde la cima. Durante el recorrido puedes encontrar variedad de vegetación de chaparral como matorrales, cactáceas, entre otras. Conforme vas avanzando, te das cuenta que ya no se escucha el ruido de la ciudad y se siente una atmosfera de tranquilidad.

Aunque llegar a la cima no es fácil, cuando te das cuenta que finalmente llegaste el cansancio desaparece un poco. Ya en la punta del cerro, lo primero que encuentras son algunas torres de empresas de telefonía y de televisoras nacionales. Pero lo que llama la atención es que, gracias a su ubicación puedes observar la ciudad completa (los cuatro puntos de la ciudad). El descenso tampoco es nada fácil debido a que hay mucha piedra suelta, lo que hace que constantemente resbales un poco. Aunque el ascenso y el descenso son un poco cuestión de resistencia al final vale la pena vivir la experiencia.

Si estas en la ciudad, no pierdas la oportunidad y anímate a realizar un recorrido con gente local; explora otras áreas de Tijuana y disfruta del panorama.

Recomendaciones

Investigar cual es la dinámica del grupo, independientemente del lugar que visites; lleva ropa y zapatos cómodos, también lleva mucha agua, algo de comida, linternas y un pequeño kit de emergencia.

If you want to visit other parts of the city that are interesting but not so touristy, we recommend you search on the web, and you may find different groups of people who join for walks through different areas of the city that are not so visited. These tours are conducted by local people on weekends and tours are free.

We climbed the Cerro Colorado. The high of the hill from base to the summit is 550 meters (1.084 ft). To reach the top takes about 2 hours approximately at normal step (but if you don’t have a good condition, it can take a little longer). The walking started in the afternoon to watch the sunset from the top. During the tour you can see some vegetation from the area such as shrubs, cacti, among others. When you are ascending you can notice that the noise of the city is no longer heard and you feel an atmosphere of tranquility.

Although reach to the top is not easy, when you realize that you arrived finally the tiredness go away a little bit. Already at the top of the hill, the first things you find are some towers from phone companies and national television. But the thing that caught your attention is that; thanks to the good location of the hill you can see the entire city (the four points of the city).The descent is not easy because there are many loose pebbles, making constantly sliding on the way. Although the ascent and descent are somewhat a matter of resistance at the end the experience is worth.

If you are in the town, do not miss the opportunity to go on a tour with local people; explore other areas of Tijuana and enjoys the panorama.

Recommendations

Search how group dynamics are, wherever place you go wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Also bring plenty water, some food, lanterns and a small emergency kit.

Parque "Teniente Guerrero"

Ubicado entre la calle 3ra y 4ta y cinco de mayo, el parque "Teniente Guerrero" fue creado en 1924 por la comunidad, los árboles fueron donados por el parque "Balboa" de San Diego (USA), aun se conserva la mayoría, en el se han celebrado eventos importantes como aniversarios de la ciudad y algunos conciertos.

Actualmente es visitado por familias y personas de todas las edades que disfrutan realizando distintas actividades al aire libre, se puede ver  niños jugando y corriendo  por el lugar, mientras algunos disfrutan de una partida de ajedrez, otros prefieren una tranquila charla mientras descansan sentados en las bancas del parque, los domingos por la mañana un grupo de adultos mayores se reúne  para bailar “Danzón”, aquí se siente una atmosfera verdaderamente distinta.

En el parque hay vendedores que ofrecen artesanías, golosinas como: raspados, algodón de azúcar entre otros; cuenta también con una pequeña biblioteca que esta abierta entre semana de 8 de la mañana a 6 de la tarde. A los alrededores hay pequeños restaurantes, consultorios médicos, dentistas  etc.

Si estas cerca del centro, no olvides visitar el parque más antiguo de la ciudad

Located between the street 3rd and 4th and May 5th, “Teniente Guerrero” park was created in 1924 by the community, the trees were donated by the Balboa Park San Diego (USA), almost all still conserved. In the park have held events important as anniversaries of the city and some concerts.

"Personas en el Parque"

Currently families and people of all ages goes to the park to enjoy different outdoor activities, you can see children playing and running around the place, while some enjoy a game of chess, others prefer a quiet chat while relaxing sitting on park benches, on Sunday morning a group of seniors gather to dance "Danzón" here feels a truly distinct atmosphere. In the park there are vendors selling crafts, treats as swabs, cotton candy among others; also has a small library which is open weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm. In the vicinity are small restaurants, medical offices, dentists etc.

If you are near the center, do not forget to visit the oldest park in the city.

Calle sexta / 6th. Street

Si lo que buscas es diversión nocturna, la ciudad de Tijuana cuenta con varios sitios para pasar el rato.

Uno de estos lugares es la calle sexta, donde se desarrolla parte de la vida nocturna. Ubicada en la zona centro de la ciudad, en esta calle  puedes encontrar diferentes lugares como bares, cantinas, discotecas, antros, pubs y salones de baile….

Lugares con buen ambiente para ir a disfrutar de una buena bebida. Cada lugar tiene una atmosfera distinta, puedes escuchar música de todo tipo desde rock hasta cumbia, también puedes encontrar tanto cervezas locales como internacionales; al igual que bebidas nacionales como el mezcal y el tequila.

En algunos lugares hay cover (pago de tarifa para entrar). Los precios de las bebidas son relativamente baratos, depende lo que busques. El servicio en los baños es buenos, pero varía dependiendo del lugar, las personas y la hora; aquí todo influye así que ve preparado con papel en la bolsa y tu gel antibacterial XD.

En general, contrario a lo que se piensa, hay seguridad y las calles están iluminadas.

Nota importante: no se puede beber en la vía pública, aunque veas que otras personas lo hacen, si visitas la calle sexta es recomendable que no lo hagas, pues la policía hace rondas y pueden arrestarte y multare.

If you are looking for nightlife, the city has several places to hang out.

One of these places is the sixth street, where part of the night life develops. Located in the downtown area of the city, on this street you can find different places like bars, pubs, discos, clubs, and dance halls…

Places with a good atmosphere to go to enjoy a good drink. Every place is different, you can hear all kinds of music from rock to cumbia, and you can also find local and international beers, as national drinks like mezcal and tequila.

In some places has cover (you pay a fee for access to the place). The drinks prices are relative cheap, it depends on the place and what are you looking for. The service in the bathrooms is good, but varies depending on location, people and time. Everything can happen so you must be prepared with paper in your bag and antibacterial gel. XD

In general, contrary to what one thinks there is safety and the streets are illuminated.

Important note: You cannot drink in Public Street, if you visit the sixth street is recommended that you don't do that, the police makes rounds and they can arrest you and you can be fined.

Arte Urbano

Últimamente, mientras caminamos por las calles de Tijuana, hemos notado gran cantidad de edificios, casas, puentes y cortinas de locales comerciales con algún tipo de intervención artística;  solo por poner un ejemplo, en la zona centro de la ciudad, a lo largo de la Avenida Revolución hay gran concentración de este movimiento urbano, también se pueden observar algunas trabajos de los artistas locales la zona de playas de Tijuana. No me refiero al típico graffiti que puedes ver en  los lugares más inaccesibles, me refiero a verdaderos trabajos artísticos adornando la ciudad.

Existen  varias técnicas que se pueden apreciar a lo largo de las calles por donde caminas, algunas veces están a la vista y otras están ocultas, saltando a la vista cuando menos lo esperas. Así que si te encuentras en la ciudad muy probablemente te toparas con este arte callejero que está teniendo gran auge en la ciudad.

Lately, while walking through the streets of Tijuana, we have noticed many buildings, houses, bridges and curtains shops with some kind of artistic intervention; just to give an example, in the downtown area of the city along Avenida Revolucion there are high concentration of this urban movement, also can see some works by local artists at the beach area. I do not mean the typical graffiti you can see in the most inaccessible places, I mean real artwork adorning the city.

There are several techniques that can be seen along the streets where you walk, sometimes are obvious and others are hidden, leaping into view when you least expect it. So if you are in town you probably stumble across this street art that is having great boom in the city.
