Puedes conocer una ciudad por muchos aspectos, por las personas, por la gastronomía, por el arte, etc. Y el sistema de transporte no es la excepción, este puede ser una oportunidad muy interesante; pues te permite explorar un poco más el lugar al que visitas y si observas bien te ayuda a comprender algunos aspectos económicos, culturales…etc.

La ciudad cuenta con diferentes unidades de transporte. Las de estas características son: la mayoría son bicolor, lo que ayuda a ubicarlos más fácilmente. Y traen el nombre de los lugares por los que pasan, escrito en el vidrio o traen letreros en el parabrisas; a excepción de los taxis libres que son solo de dos colores y no traen ruta fija.

A continuación, te daremos una breve descripción del tipo de transporte que hay en la cuidad.

Los taxis de ruta o colectivos: Estas unidades tienen un sitio fijo, en donde se suben y bajan a los pasajeros. En este transporte suben a determinado número de pasajeros (dependiendo del número de asientos que tenga el taxi) y en estas unidades, tienes que esperar a que se llenen todos los lugares para que el taxi inicie con el recorrido. A veces una ruta cubre varias zonas y no pasan por el mismo lugar, por lo que es mejor preguntar si pasa por el destino al que te diriges. La tarifa de estas unidades es fija.

Los taxis libres: Estos taxis no tienen un sitio fijo o parada fija, algunos de estos se mueven en determinadas zonas de la ciudad pero pueden ir a cualquier zona; siempre y cuando el taxista tenga conocimiento de cómo llegar o que el pasajero le dé indicaciones para llegar. La tarifa depende de que tan lejos o cerca este el lugar al que te diriges, es mejor preguntar si te puede llevar a determinado lugar y preguntar cuánto te cobra desde un inicio.

Camiones o autobuses: Los camiones al igual que los taxis tienen un sitio fijo y diferentes rutas. También tienen una tarifa fija y también es bueno preguntar si pasa por un lugar en específico.

Calfias: mejor conocidas como CALAFIAS, estas pequeñas al igual que las otras unidades también son de diferente color, sitio fijo y tienen tarifa fija.

You can know the city in many ways, through people, gastronomy, art, etc. And the transport system is not the exception; this can be an interesting opportunity to explore a little more the place that you visit and if you observe well you can understand some economic, cultural issues… etc.

The city has several units of transport. The general characteristics are: most are bicolor, which helps to more easily locate the site. And bring the names of the places of the route written on the glass or bring sings on the windshield; except free cabs (taxi libre) that are only two colors and have not fixed route.

Next, we give you a brief description of the type of transport that is in the city.

The route taxis or collective taxi: These units have a specific location, where up and down passengers. Sometimes the taxi route covers several areas and not goes through the same place, so you better ask if it goes to the destination where you are going. The fee of these units is fixed.

Cabs (taxi libre): These taxis do not have a specific location or specific stop, some of these move in certain areas of the city but can go to any area; as long as the driver have know of how to get there or the passenger give him directions to get there. The fare depends on how far or close is the place you are going, you better ask if the taxi can take you to a certain place and ask how much you charge from the start.

Buses: Buses same as taxis have a specific location where you up and down and different routes. They also have a fixed fare and you must ask if the route is the same as you destination.

Calfias: better known as CALAFIAS, these small units like the buses and taxis are also different color and have an specific location a fixed fee.

Vientos de Santa Ana o Santana

Otra de las peculiaridades de la zona en relación al clima, son los vientos de Santana. Estos se presentan en la región de California y Baja California durante otoño y a inicios de primavera, pero pueden formarse en cualquier momento del año.

La característica de estos vientos es que son extremadamente secos y sus rangos de temperatura pueden ser de cálidos hasta fríos. Estos vientos recogen y llevan arena, polvo, polen e irritantes que afectan la salud.

Estas son algunas de las afectaciones que pueden causar:

Ojos irritados

Dificultad para respirar..

Resequedad en la piel

Sequedad en la garganta

Congestión nasal

Cuando hay vientos de Santa Ana, sientes…

Que el aire al respirar está caliente y seco o (frio y seco)

Sensación de ardor en la nariz y garanta

Ojos secos

Como estática en la ropa y en el ambiente

Arenilla en la piel

Piel reseca

Molestias en general 

Es recomendable, que no olvides traer siempre en tu bolsa o mochila gotas para los ojos, lentes, cremas, agua y medicina para alguna a alergia en específico.

Santa Ana winds or Santana winds [Eng]

Another peculiarity of the zone related to weather is the Santana winds.

These are presented in the region of California and Baja California during autumn and early spring, but can occur at any time of year. The characteristic of these winds is that are extremely dry and the temperature range can be warm to cold winds. These winds pick up and carry sand, dust, pollen and some other irritants that affect health.

These are some affectation that can cause

Irritated eyes

Shortness of breath

Dry skin

Dry throat

Nasal congestion

When there are Santana winds you can feel

When you breathe feel the air hot and dry or (cold and dry)

Burning sensation in the nose and throat

Dry eyes

Static in clothes and the environment

Grit over the skin

Dry skin

and some other discomfort

So it is always recommended that you do not forget to bring in your bag or backpack eye drops, creams, sunglasses, water and medicine to any specific allergy.

Festival Cultural en la Asociacion Japonesa de Tijuana

En octubre es también el festival anual de la asociación japonesa de Tijuana, en donde la comunidad japonesa que vive en la ciudad se reúne para compartir su cultura con los locales.  

Es un evento sencillo pero igual mente entretenido y cada año es diferente, se hace en un salón que está dentro de las instalaciones. La entrada tiene un costo de 10 pesos que pagas en la entrada del lugar y ahí mismo encuentras los boletos para la comida bebidas y artículos que están a la venta (es como si fuera una kermesse).

Puedes encontrar desde deliciosos platillos japoneses como bento, onigiri, nikuman, entre muchos otros, todos igualmente deliciosos. Hay exposición de artículos tradicionales como kimomos, kokeshi, y artesanías.  También puedes apreciar el arte del shodo o caligrafía japonesa donde puedes pedir que te escriban tu nombre o lo que se te ocurra por un  precio accesible que va desde los 10 pesos en adelante (depende del papel  que elijas).

Y al fondo del salón hay un pequeño escenario, cada año se hacen distintas muestras de diversos aspectos de su cultura, este año presentaron desfile de kimonos y explicaron algunos detalles,  hubo muestra de origami y una representación de un Omiai (matrimonios arreglados) y el evento termino con un baile tradicional (todos bailaron, fue super divertido! :D).

In October is the annual festival of the Japanese Association of Tijuana, where the Japanese community living in the city shares their culture with the locals. It is a simple but equally entertaining event and every year is different. The entrance fee is 10 pesos you pay at the entrance of the place and find the tickets right there for drinks, food and items that are on sale.

You can find delicious Japanese dishes like bento, onigiri, nikuman, among many others, all equally delicious. There exhibition of traditional items like kimomos, kokeshi, and crafts. You can also appreciate the art of shodo or Japanese calligraphy and you can ask to write your name or whatever you want for a price ranging from 10 pesos and up (depends on the paper size that you choose). 

And at the back of the room there is a small stage, where they show various aspects of their culture, this year they prepare a “Kimono’s runway”, explaining some interesting details about the way women wear them, they teach who to do origami and do a representation of a Omiai (arranged marriages) and the event finished with a traditional dance (everybody danced, was super fun! :D).
